A New Tech Economy

Camgian Corporation and Hyperion Technology Group, two Mississippi-based companies, were collectively awarded over $22 million by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in 2024. Both companies utilized the no-cost portal from MCITy partner ERDCWERX, ERDCWERX.org, to submit prototype concepts in response to ERDC’s Broad Other Transaction Authority Announcement (BOTAA). ERDC’s BOTAA is a continuously open and competitive process that enables industry and academia to submit white papers addressing any of the 17 focus areas in ERDC’s Military Engineering and Engineered Resilient Systems business areas.

ERDCWERX, a flagship partner in the Mississippi Center for Innovation and Technology, acts as the primary facilitator for ERDC for the BOTAA process. By streamlining the submission process for industry and academia, ERDCWERX empowers those wishing to submit to efficiently navigate government contracting and propose solutions for funding consideration by ERDC. This activity aligns perfectly with MCITy’s mission to enhance Mississippi’s high-tech ecosystem and accelerate technology-driven economic growth.

Camgian’s cutting-edge work in artificial intelligence and machine learning and Hyperion’s advancements in sensor engineering highlight Mississippi’s growing prominence as a leader in innovation. Their achievements demonstrate how local businesses can leverage the MCITy network to gain recognition and make a significant economic impact.
